Bringing the surgical and medical side of obesity disease management together, Medical Weight Loss Doctor Donald W. Tice, DO, aids individuals of all body types to reach their long term weight loss goals. As Director of the Medical Weight Loss department, Dr. Tice treats patients that do not qualify for surgical procedures or have chosen to pursue another option. He also treats patients who have had a surgical weight loss procedure but experience roadblocks to losing all their excess weight due to metabolic or hormonal imbalances. Dr. Tice’s personal mission is to share the ability to enjoy life with those who are afflicted with obesity.

A family physician for more than 20 years and having owned and operated a large family practice center, Dr. Tice has seen the pain and devastation obesity can cause. Since becoming interested in Bariatric medicine and starting his training in the field more than 14 years ago, he has been the Medical Director for four medical weight loss centers in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He has been a member of the American Society for Bariatric Medicine where he has had the opportunity to study the diseases process of obesity and understand its co-morbid conditions. With his background in primary care and Bariatrics, he not only holds the expertise to work with patients and their weight loss problems but to also deal with other medical conditions that accompany obesity.

Dr. Tice earned his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan and his DO from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and also worked in Emergency Medicine before moving into Bariatric Medicine.

While living in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Dr. Tice donated his time and expertise to treat the disadvantaged families and children referred to him by a charitable organization, Bosko Ministries. He was ordained by the ministry for his contributions and continues his association with the organization.

Dr. Tice was elected by his peers and appointed by the South Carolina governor to serve a four year term as a member of the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners. He was also appointed as a liaison to the Physician Assistants committee for the board. He is past president of the South Carolina Osteopathic Medical Society as well as past program chairman and served as trustee for two years. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and the American Society of Bariatric Physicians.

Dr. Tice enjoys the outdoors, promoting athletics for children and volunteering as a team physician for numerous sports. Dr. Tice and his wife, Renee, have four children.
